COMMERCIAL

is a store designed, on both the inside and the outside, as a collection of simple circulator units 10 centimeters in diameter. On the exterior wall, over 28,000 transparent glass tubes, 10 centimeters in diameter and 30 centimeters in length and sealed between two plates of glass, are suspended by two reflective stainless panels in which holes of the same diameter have been cut. These elements, which resembles a compound eye, cause diffuse reflections. They pick up nearby lights and colors and change subtly in appearance. The interior is divided into a “plaza” and a “salon”; a skin made from a combination of stainless rings, 10 centimeters in diameter, defines the boundary between them. The spatial from of the store has been deliberately made complex. The reception of a simple element generates both a sense of unity and diversity.
