AOKI JUN

DAIWA PHARMACY

IBARAGI, JAPAN

EXHIBITION

is an installation making use of a preexisting wooden building; it is a project for Mito Junior Chamber planned by Art Tower Mito, Contemporary Art Gallery. Thus it is not intended to function as a building. However, the intention was to motivate the organizers to maintain the building for future installations by artists. The rooms in the preexisting twostory building are preserved in their original state but the spaces connecting those rooms such as stairs and corridors have been remodeled. A part of a fresco by Ghirlandaio with birds has been extracted, and sheets of CG paper printed with the image have been used to cover the floor and walls in the corridors and stair space. A transparent plastic has been poured over beige paint on the floor.
